Heat Pumps

Heat Pumps are modern, clean heating and cooling technology which can provide effective space heating and cooling by transferring heat between the interior and exterior of a building. This technology can create a more comfortable building interior without relying on fossil fuel systems.

CEC Grant funds can support air- or ground-source heat pump conversion projects without the need for dedicated a CEC Energy Study. Contractors must be certified to work with the chosen technology. Air-source heat pumps must be selected from the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership (NEEP) product list of cold-climate air-source heat pumps. Ground-source heat pumps must be Energy Star Certified.

NYS Clean Heat Contractors are knowledgeable about technical specifications and local and regional incentive programs.

How to get Started

Interested municipalities should contact potential contractors to prepare quotes and identify opportunities for upgrades and fossil fuel system replacements.
