Municipalities can use CEC Grant Funds to fund the conversion of municipal- or utility-owned street lighting to high-efficiency LED street lights. Municipalities with substantial street lighting have saved tens of thousands of dollars on annual energy costs. Municipalities can also use funds to purchase street lighting fixtures from the utility. Funds cannot be used to purchase new fixtures.
How to Get Started
Municipalities that own streetlighting fixtures should begin by preparing an inventory of the fixtures to be replaced by LEDs, and should explore quotes and/or estimates for the anticipated cost of the work.
Municipalities that do not own their own street lighting should begin by identifying the utility that does and reaching out to the relevant contact to begin the change-over process.
